This unit describes a participant’s skills and knowledge required to conduct operations with integrated tool carrier in Coal and Metalliferous mining.

Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Plan and prepare for integrated tool carrier operations

1.1 Access, interpret and apply integrated tool carrier documentation and ensure the work activity is compliant

1.2 Obtain, read, interpret, clarify and confirm work requirements

1.3 Select and wear personal protective equipment appropriate for work activities

1.4 Identify and select any required tools and equipment, check for serviceability and rectify or report, verbally or in writing, any faults prior to commencement

1.5 Identify and address potential risks, hazards and environmental issues, and implement control measures

1.6 Perform equipment pre-start and post-start checks

1.7 Carry out start-up procedures

1.8 Communicate with other equipment operators and personnel using approved communication methods

1.9 Obtain and interpret emergency procedures, and be prepared for fire/accident/emergency

2. Lift and move load

2.1 Operate equipment safely within limitations

2.2 Monitor and manage equipment performance using appropriate indicators/gauges

2.3 Assess site conditions, position equipment and ensure safety of other equipment and personnel

2.4 Communicate with Dogman to ensure appropriate slings and lifting gear are selected

2.5 Communicate with Dogman to ensure load and equipment is secured and stable

2.6 Ensure approved signals are used to receive guidance on movement of equipment

2.7 Complete all written documentation clearly, concisely and on time

3. Complete operations

3.1 Prepare integrated tool carrier for relocation

3.2 Move integrated tool carrier between worksites

3.3 Park integrated tool carrier and prepare for maintenance and shutdown

3.4 Inspect equipment for faults

4. Select, remove and fit attachments

4.1 Select attachment for the work activity

4.2 Remove, fit and test attachment

4.3 Use attachment for intended purpose

4.4 Remove, clean and store attachment

5. Carry out post-operational procedures

5.1 Inspect, fault find and report faults, verbally or in writing

5.2 Carry out routine operator servicing, maintenance and housekeeping tasks

5.3 Maintain and process written records and reports

5.4 Carry out minor operator maintenance to manufacturer's instructions and site requirements
